Abstract

Abstract In the present research, the researcher seeks to legalize the second part of the Canadian cognitive abilities test known as (ccat) prepared by: Robert L. Thorndike and Elizabeth (H) Elizabeth P. Hagen. , Which is one of the important cognitive abilities tests, which enables us to determine general levels of students' cognitive abilities in three areas, oral, quantitative and non-verbal, it is a reliable evaluation tool, it does not require complex practical skills, and it is not influenced by a specific culture, which helps us in its application On different classes. The aim of the research is to identify the differences in cognitive abilities according to the school gender variable (superior - normal) and the academic grade (from the seventh to the third scientific high school), and to achieve the objectives, the Canadian cognitive abilities test was applied to the legalization sample of (723) male and female students, and a sample The basic study, consisting of (1210) male and female students, from seventh to third grade students in Homs city schools. The test, in its amended form, was applied after translation and modification to an initial exploratory sample of (100) male and female students, and it bore the characteristics of the basic sample. Represented by students of the seventh, eighth and ninth grades, in order to find out whether there was clarity in the test items they had before applying it, and the exploratory study resulted in a number of amendments that dealt with the content of the items within each sub-test, in addition to the correction key. Also, differences appeared in the mean scores of students according to the variable of the school grade, and it was found that the mental ability advances in the classroom, and it was found that the first grade of secondary and the second grade of secondary school had distinguished on this rule. The researcher also extracted the criteria for gender, school and class. Based on the foregoing, the test has a discriminating ability that appeared through the differences that were observed in the hypothesis tests.
